HRH Prince Faisal press conference at Generations For Peace Advanced Training 201426 November 2014 – Amman, Jordan: The fourth Generations For Peace Samsung Advanced Training, hosted at the organisation’s headquarters in Jordan from 22-26 November, brought together 33 experienced volunteers from 21 different Generations For Peace Programmes in 11 countries, continuing the investment made by Generations For Peace in its inspirational volunteer change-leaders and their local community programmes.

The participants gathered in Amman from Georgia, Ghana, Indonesia, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Republic of Macedonia, Nepal, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. The carefully-selected individuals have each recently completed a full 12-month programme cycle in their local communities, and a full evaluation to measure their impact and sustainability. The intensive five days’ training, based on the unique Generations For Peace curriculum and delivered by Generations For Peace’s “home grown” Pioneer Facilitators, facilitated the sharing of success stories and lessons learned in the field, enabling the volunteers to enhance their knowledge of practical peace-building and conflict transformation methodologies, and to identify best practices from one another’s experiences.

Speaking at the official press conference, HRH Prince Feisal Al-Hussein, Founder and Chairman of Generations For Peace, remarked: “Peace does not mean an absence of conflicts; differences will always be there. Peace means solving these differences through peaceful means; through dialogue, education, knowledge. Our volunteers are transforming conflict, shattering stereotypes and building trust amongst youth across conflict divides. This training, with Samsung’s generous support, is an extremely valuable opportunity to share their successes and challenges, to learn from each other.”
