Generations For Peace (GFP), a leading global peacebuilding organisation founded and chaired by HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein, has appointed Miss Lama Hattab as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Lama brings more than 17 years of experience designing and implementing programmes to address issues of violence, systemic bias, and hatred in Africa, Asia, Europe, USA, and across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

She has held leadership roles in prominent international NGOs, including Head of Delegation at Terre des hommes, in Lebanon, and Deputy Country Director Head of Programmes at DanChurchAid in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.

Lama worked at GFP’s Amman, Jordan, headquarters from 2008 to 2020 as Programmes Director, where she played a vital role in establishing and developing the Programmes Department and overseeing the successful implementation of numerous local and international programmes.

Lama strongly believes in the power of sports to drive positive change. As a former athlete and through her extensive work with Generations For Peace, she has witnessed firsthand how sports can transform lives and contribute to peacebuilding at the grassroots level. “Sports changed my life personally, and being in the field with GFP has shown me how sports can transform lives in various communities as well. The incredible impact of our work continues to inspire and fuel my passion for our mission,” said Lama, who holds a master’s degree in Social Cohesion and Conflict Resolution from the Open University of Catalonia in Spain.

Dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and marginalised groups, and an ardent advocate for women and youth empowerment through sports, Lama also serves as a board member with the Free to Run Organisation.
