Amman – 25 February 2013: Samsung Electronics Levant Co. ltd., a global leader in digital media and convergence technologies, renewed their partnership agreement with Generations For Peace today, takingthe partnership into its 6th year. The support is part of Samsung’s broader “Hope For Children” programme, the consumer electronics giant’s highly respected Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. The renewed commitment demonstrates the shared values at the heart of the relationship, and follows the success of joint events and activities in the region.
Mr. Bumsuk Hong, President of Samsung Electronics Levant, commented: “Since 2008, Samsung’s partnership with Generations For Peace has been founded on Samsung’s belief that the sustainability of our business demands that we be respected global corporate citizens. We have been pursuing sustainable social development in the belief that businesses need a healthy society, free from conflict and violence, in order to prosper, just as trees require good soil to grow.
“Over recent years we have been expanding our corporate social responsibility initiatives globally. Our support for Generations For Peace fits within Samsung’s ‘Hope For Children’ programme. We are extremely impressed with the growth and achievements of Generations For Peace over the last five years, and the demonstrated impact in promoting youth leadership, community empowerment, active tolerance, and responsible citizenship.
“Last October, it was my great honour to present, with His Royal Highness Prince Feisal Al Hussein, the Samsung Generations For Peace Awards to Generations For Peace volunteers. I am so impressed with the inspiring work of the Generations For Peace volunteers around the world. I believe the extraordinary quality of Generations For Peace training is matched only by their passion and commitment to cascade the values of Generations For Peace to make a lasting difference in their communities. Their work is important and an inspiration to others, and we are proud to support Generations For Peace.”
Mark Clark, CEO of Generations For Peace, commented: “Both Samsung and Generations For Peace share a focus on innovation, quality, impact and sustainability. We are both seeking to push the boundaries of what is possible, to harness new technologies and social media, to invest in research and innovation, to measure our achievements, and to keep learning. Without Samsung’s support we could not achieve the impact we are having. Both Samsung and Generations For Peace are bringing our passion and expertise to inspire the world, and create a better future.”
In April 2013, Samsung will again support the Generations For Peace Advanced Training, which brings together thirty of the most experienced Generations For Peace volunteers from around the world for advanced-level training, and to share and exchange success stories and best practices, as well as challenges and lessons learned. Samsung will also be supporting the Samsung Generations For Peace Awards, which recognise the extraordinary achievement of volunteers in four “Drivers of Change” categories: Innovation, Quality, Impact and Sustainability.
