Areen joined Generations For Peace in October 2019 as a Programmes Intern through the Lazord Fellowship Programme. In this role, she supports the implementation of GFP’s programmes in Jordan, while liaising with lead Delegates/Pioneers regarding the design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of their programmes.

Originally from Jordan, Areen graduated from Al-Balqa Applied University with a degree in Environmental Engineering. She is a youth activist who strongly believes in the power of education to transform and develop communities and empower youth, especially within conflict-affected areas.

Areen serves as a board member of the MENA Youth Capacity Building in Humanitarian Action at Reach Out to Asia and is the Humanitarian Affairs MENA regional focal point with United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth.

Before joining GFP, Areen worked with USAID Jordan Local Enterprise Support Project (LENS) to support small business growth and better economic planning to strengthen Jordanian communities against economic adversity.

In her spare time Areen enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
