Originally from Jordan, Areen graduated from Al-Balqa Applied University with a degree in Environmental Engineering. She is a youth activist who strongly believes in the power of education to transform and develop communities and empower youth, especially within conflict-affected areas.
Areen serves as a board member of the MENA Youth Capacity Building in Humanitarian Action at Reach Out to Asia and is the Humanitarian Affairs MENA regional focal point with United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth.
Before joining GFP, Areen worked with USAID Jordan Local Enterprise Support Project (LENS) to support small business growth and better economic planning to strengthen Jordanian communities against economic adversity.
