Firas joined Generations For Peace in January 2021 as Finance Director. In this role, he oversees and leads the work of GFP’s Finance Department, ensures efficient and effective financial management, and supports the COO with financial risk management. In addition, he supports each of GFP’s departments in budget planning, procurement, and contracting with suppliers and contractors. He is also responsible for supporting the financial management capacity-development of Local Partner Organisations and GFP’s locally registered entities and Satellite Offices.
Originally from Palestine, Firas holds a Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance from The Arab Academy for Banking and Financial Sciences. He also earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Jordan.
Firas has extensive experience working for both blue-chip multinational companies and the non-profit sector. Before joining GFP, worked with the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) as Regional Finance Manager, overseeing the organisation’s financial management in both Jordan and Syria. This included working with donors like USAID, BPRM, UN OCHA, ECHO, DFID, and DAP. He also has previous experience serving with UNRWA as Head Payments Section – Head Quarter.
In his spare time, Firas enjoys travelling, spending time with his family and friends, and exploring new places.
