Hemilda Mercy
Programmes Coordinator
Mercy joined Generations For Peace in March 2019 as a Programmes Coordinator. In this role, she supports the implementation of Generations For Peace programmes in Sri Lanka; assists and mentors the lead volunteers in programme design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation; and contributes to the preparation of progress reports, briefings, and updates of programmes in Sri Lanka.
Originally from Sri Lanka, Mercy attended the Open University of Sri Lanka, where she studied Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship, and Small Business Management.
Mercy has previously worked with Generations For Peace during her time as a Project Officer at the National Peace Council of Sri Lanka (NPC). During this time, she worked with the Religion to Reconcile (R2R) programme, put on in partnership with NPC, USAID, and Generations For Peace, which aimed to strengthen interreligious people-to-people community engagement for reconciliation and social cohesion using sport and arts. She has also worked as a Field Coordinator with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on a community development and livelihood programme that aimed to assist the families of missing persons affected by war.
Mercy loves to travel, sing, and drive. In her free time, she enjoys doing social work and engaging with various community-based activities.
