Meera Shamma

Communications Officer

Meera joined Generations for Peace in May 2022 and currently serves as a Communications Officer. In her position, she serves as the English communications project lead on certain projects, and as project support on others. She contributes to the conceptualization of communications content and selecting of channels to best achieve the strategic objectives of each project. She helps prepare digital media and engagement plans, communication and visibility plans, and communications campaigns for many of GFP’s programmes.In her postion, Meera works closely with various departments at GFPs and ensuring that their main messages are delivered effectively among stakeholders, helping to achieve the strategic objectives of each department.

Originally from Lebanon and Jordan, and born in the United States, Meera holds a master’s degree in International Politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), at the University of London in the United Kingdom. Her master’s research focused on exploring how international norms are adapted and implemented in Middle Eastern societies, specifically in Lebanon.

Throughout her writing and communications career, Meera has helped develop communications strategies and campaigns and managed the creation of communications content for local and international organizations. Before joining GFP, she worked in communications at the Lebanese American University, creating content to help attract funding towards student scholarships, from 2019 -2021. She also served as the Managing Editor for Royal Jordanian Airlines’ in-flight magazine, Royal Wings, from 2014-2016.

Meera is a sun-dweller who enjoys cooking, playing tennis, and spending time outdoors.
