Saumya joined Generations For Peace in July 2019 as a Programmes Officer. In this role, she supports the implementation of Generations For Peace programmes in Sri Lanka; assists and mentors the lead volunteers in programme design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation; and contributes to delivery of various types of trainings.
Originally from Sri Lanka, Saumya holds a Master’s degree in Organisational Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Health Psychology. She has also been trained by the Geneva Centre for Security Policy on “Swiss Peacebuilding,” which exposed her to various peacebuilding approaches as well as how to monitor and evaluate peacebuilding programmes.
Saumya has extensive experience working in the humanitarian and development sector with international organisations, including working with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), United Nations Development Programme, Democracy Reporting International, International Coalition for Sites of Conscience, and Solidaridad Network Asia.
Saumya loves to dance, collect antique earrings and addicted to the TV show “Friends” In her free time, she enjoys reading, photography and cooking.
