Programmes: Sport For Peace for Youth, Sport For Peace for Children
Generations For Peace programmes were first implemented in the Republic of Georgia in 2013. Beginning with Sport For Peace activities targeting children and youth, GFP works with youth based around the country’s capital and largest city, Tbilisi.
Georgia is home to a wide range of religions existing in close proximity to one another, influencing communities and neighbourhoods and often resulting into violent conflicts, especially against religious minorities. In regions where violent conflict surfaces most frequently, GFP programmes engage children and youth from different social and religious backgrounds, addressing discrimination among those in which lack of confidence and self-esteem has manifested. Our nearly 80 volunteers in the country also engage Tbilisi youth in Community Engagements programming, contributing towards a more peaceful society in Georgia through activities based on a religious spirit of tolerance and coexistence.
