Programmes: Sport For Peace for Children

Generations For Peace has worked in Pakistan since 2010, where our programmes primarily impact children and youth living in the northern province of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), in the town of Muzaffarabad and in refugee camps, most notably Jalozai. GFP first introduced our Sport For Peace Programme, and is now working to expand to Arts- and Advocacy For Peace programming to collectively address gender-related issues.

Pakistan is ranked as one of the highest refugee-holding countries in the world, and GFP Programmes have largely targeted Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and communities, helping to promote improved relationships among different refugee groups and host communities while equipping children with the skills to respond to conflicts and difficulties in the refugee camps in non-violent ways. To support and empower youth in these settings, GFP’s programmes specifically target excluded minorities, helping them develop the skills to constructively cope with frustration, anger, fear, and neglect.
