Programmes: Sport and Arts For Peace for Youth

Generations For Peace introduced its programming in Uganda in the summer of 2014. We began with programmes in Soroti and expanded to include Wakiso, a district that partly encircles Kampala, Uganda’s capital. Since 2014, our programmes have grown from Sport For Peace to include Arts For Peace with children and youth.

GFP’s sport and arts activities target male and female youth from varying religious backgrounds – Muslim, Christian, Catholic, Pentecostal, Anglican, and African Tribal Religions – to minimise and prevent the outbreak of the violent religious conflict to which citizens of the country are subjected. The activities additionally acknowledge and bring to surface issues of gender-based violence in schools and communities, offering a tangible message of change, generating responsibility among community members and programme participants to reduce and mitigate issues.
